Venice - windows

While walking through Venice's network of alleys I would constantly look up at the windows in admiration of their variety. Every building in Venice has a unique architectural and personified character. Whoever built and whoever lives or has lived in the ancient buildings has added life to the city's face. Each window has a story to tell, each has its own style, all in a mix of the original and new owners' fancies. But all have Venetian style. The colours are fresh and bright on some, old and faded in others. Some have the beginnings of ware, and some well established patina. An unfakable patina. Only time in the moist Venetian sea air can create such an effect and carry it so well.

In continuing my focus on details, here is just a tiny selection of the window shapes and styles which I found around the town. I have not captioned any of these photographs as I am more interested in the character than the detail of what was where. They are in Venice for all to find and enjoy finding. Make your own interpretation of the windows histories and the stories they could tell.
